Well what about the time and commitment needed, well yes you do have to commit to making a change and you do need to set aside time to make this happen, It can take around 2 weeks on average to make a sensible change to your child’s sleep habits and for them to learn something new, two weeks of talking to me, emailing each other and completing a sleep log to track progress/make changes as we work together. But why would that hold you back – you tell me? Then maybe you think It will damage your child – Eek if it is this, please please call me to talk things over, I would never ask you to do something which would damage your child, SERIOUSLY! I mean what exactly do you think I would be suggesting to you that would damage your child? AND continuous poor sleep is damaging to your child and to you and it doesn’t need to be like that. So what do I do then…… Ok so I will complete an evaluation to make sure there are no medical reasons for your child not sleeping well, and that I can actually help and that we are a good fit, then I will ask you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire which will give me the basis of your sleep plan. then We will have a 60/90 min personal consultation and talk though what approach we might take and what the two weeks (or more) plan would look like and get your input, then make changes/update based on our consultation (which I spend time talking to you about the why and evidence of my suggestions) I offer suggestions based on your situation but you are my client and you have final say and of course there are always alternatives. then We start the plan, which is set out step by step, day by day, bedtime, night time, mornings and naps – it’s a complete sleep strategy. We will have around 4 phone calls over a two-week period with daily email support in addition to my digital sleep log which is super great at showing us the next steps to take based on how your child is responding, my plans are family-led and have the balance I find is so hard to get these days, your either a Dr Sears or Gina Forder….this in reality just isn’t true, most of us are in the middle of these two extremes, I am in my approach anyway.
